Phonics Teaching
As a school the systematic synthetic programme that we use is Twinkl Phonics. We use this programme to deliver consistent, daily high quality phonics lessons. The Twinkl Phonics programme allows use to deliver a progressive phonics curriculum throughout school. We chose this programme as it contextualises the teaching of phonics through the use of stories.
Reading Books
To support the teaching of phonics the children are able to access a selection of fully decodeable books matched to their phonics level. To enable the children to be successful in their journey to becoming readers, we select books for them to read that are practicing previously learnt grapheme phoneme correspondences (GPCs) taught in phonics sessions.
