Primary Education in Essex 2024/2025

Primary, Infant and Junior Schools Admission Policies Directory 2024/2025

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

The school admits up to 60 reception pupils each year. Children enter school in the September preceding their fifth birthday. There is a thorough induction process including a home visit and a phased entry programme. Prospective parents are welcome to tour the school by appointment.  Please contact the office for tour dates.

The responsibility for applying for a school place rests with parents.  The availability of the common application is available online and will be publicised by Essex for parents of all known Essex resident eligible children.

The application period opens on 6 November 2023 and closes on 15 January 2024.

Please submit an application before the deadline for children who were born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 and were resident in Essex and registered with an Essex GP in January 2022.

A school place will be offered on 16 April 2024.  In the event of over-subscription places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given in the Determined Admission Arrangements.

1. Looked After Children and previously looked after children (as defined in the Primary Education in Essex booklet)

2. Children with a sibling attending the school or The Alderton Junior School

3. Children of all staff at the school a) where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at thetime at which the application for admission to the school is made, and / or b) the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill-shortage

4. Children living in the priority admission area

5. Remaining applications.

In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority.

Our school is a member of the Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust.
